NC Acting President Khadka to address press amid peak dispute over special general convention

KATHMANDU: Amid escalating controversy within the Nepali Congress over the proposed special general convention, Acting Party President Purna Bahadur Khadka is set to address a press conference today.

The move comes a day after Thursday’s meeting of the party’s Central Working Committee decided to appeal for the immediate suspension of the special general convention.

Party sources said Acting President Khadka is expected to once again urge leaders and cadres to halt the special general convention through today’s press meet. The press conference will be held in the presence of leader from the dissident camp, Dr Shekhar Koirala.

The dispute over whether to convene a special general convention has sharply divided the party, with tensions intensifying as the date proposed by the general secretaries draws closer.
