PM Disaster Relief Funds Reach Rs 17.06 Billion



KATHMANDU: Contributions to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund and the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund have continued following the recent flooding of the Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa, with the combined balance reaching Rs 17.06 billion as of Wednesday evening.

According to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Rs 12.57 billion is currently deposited in the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund across nine commercial banks.

In addition, dollar-denominated accounts maintained at Himalayan Bank and Laxmi Sunrise Bank hold a combined balance of US$29.19 million.

The government has so far released Rs 1 billion from the funds collected for relief and recovery efforts in areas affected by the floods.
