KATHMANDU: Police have arrested 10 Bangladeshi nationals on suspicion of illegally residing in the Thamel area and engaging in suspicious activities.
According to Superintendent of Police Sharat Kumar Thapa Chhetri of the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, the individuals were taken into custody after they were found staying illegally and allegedly engaging in suspicious activities at various hotels and guesthouses in Thamel, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26.
Those arrested have been identified as Fahima Aktar Hasan, 46; Mahamud, 48; Mahbub Hasan, 45; Repon Mehmood, 49; MD Keramot Ali Khan, 30; Shahidur Rahman, 30; MD Khalilur Rahman, 50; Arifur Rahman, 28; MD Maruf Mridha, 42; and Mohammad Hanif Miya, 64.
Police said all 10 are residents of Ghazipur, under Gadabpur Police Station in Bangladesh, and had been staying in Thamel. They were arrested from several locations, including Hotel Dhaka Express, Hotel D Bhedha, and Hotel Al Rahman, according to police.
All 10 have been handed over to the Department of Immigration for further investigation and necessary action, police said.
