KATHMANDU: WorldLink Communications Limited has provided Rs 10.1 million in assistance for people affected by the Bhotekoshi flash floods of August 26.
The internet service provider deposited the amount into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. WorldLink CEO Keshav Nepal handed over the contribution to Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle on Monday.
Nepal said the company provided the assistance to support rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts for citizens affected by the disaster.
The recent floods also caused significant damage to WorldLink’s network and infrastructure. According to preliminary estimates, the company suffered direct losses of around Rs 35 million.
Despite the extensive damage to its infrastructure, WorldLink said it restored the affected network and resumed services within three days of the floods to ensure that customers and the public did not remain without internet services for an extended period. The company made the statement in a press release.
