Two arrested with 162 kg of marijuana in Makawanpur



HETAUDA: Police have arrested two people with 162 kg 794 grams of marijuana in Makawanpur district.

The two were arrested after police intercepted a car traveling from the Bhabar area of Raksirang toward Kharanga in Manahari Rural Municipality-9. According to Madhav Prasad Kafle, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Makawanpur, police found 13 packets of marijuana concealed beneath the seats of the car.

The Area Police Office, Manahari, had been monitoring the vehicle after another pickup, with registration number Ga 2 Cha 615, was allegedly escorting it. When the pickup attempted to flee, police took it under control as well.

The arrested individuals have been identified as car driver Dev Narayan Mahato, 56, of Dhobaha, Madi Municipality-5, Chitwan, and pickup driver Tek Bahadur Dong, 48, of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-24, Chitwan.

“Acting on specific information, a team from the Area Police Office, Manahari, took both vehicles and their drivers into control and recovered 162 kg of marijuana,” DSP Kafle said. Police have initiated further investigation into both suspects.
