Power supply to be disrupted in eastern Nepal today

KATHMANDU: Electricity supply will remain disrupted for 12 hours in Jhapa, Ilam, Panchthar and Taplejung districts, as well as Urlabari, Pathari and surrounding areas of Morang, today (Saturday).

According to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), power supply will be interrupted from 4:00 am to 4:00 pm due to maintenance and testing works on the Duhabi–Damak 132 kV transmission line.

The disruption is necessary to install a dead-end tower between tower numbers 68 and 69 at Keroun, carry out transmission line maintenance and conduct substation testing, officials said.

Project Chief Darshan Rai Yadav said the substation operation would help ensure a more reliable, quality and regular electricity supply in Morang areas including Belbari, Rangeli, Urlabari and Pathari.

The NEA has requested consumers in the affected areas to take necessary precautions during the scheduled outage.
