Parliamentary panel directs govt. to resolve border dispute between Humla and Bajura



KATHMANDU: The Federalism Strengthening and National Concern Committee of the National Assembly (NA) has instructed the Home Ministry to seek a long term resolve to end the border dispute concerning Humla and Bajura districts.

A meeting of the Committee held today under the chair of Committee’s Chairperson Jayanti Devi Rai directed the government to ensure a sustainable resolution of the border dispute by holding intensive discussions among the local people, administration and concerned stakeholders.

During the meeting, Home Secretary Rajkumar Shrestha shared that the border dispute on Lampata Chyachaur area (Ranisain) along the Humla and Bajura districts has returned to normal state currently.

On the occasion, Inspector General (IG) of Nepal Police Dan Bahadur Karki informed the Committee members about the security situation in the disputed area.

Karki said that preparations were ongoing to establish a temporary joint security base and added that the Nepal Police has expedited the processes to take action against the perpetrators.

NA Members Narayan Dutta Mishra, Roshani Meche, Shree Krishna Prasad Adhikari, Sonam Galzen Sherpa, Kiran Babu Shrestha and Dharmendra Paswan suggested the government to seek a speedy and sustainable solution to the border dispute.

The locals of Himali Rural Municipality-3 in Bajura and Kharpunath Rural Municipality-2 in Humla district clashed resulting in some injuries over an issue to build a temporary police post at Lampata area in Himali Rural Municipality.
