15 Indian pilgrims injured in bus-truck collision in Myagdi



MYAGDI: Fifteen Indian pilgrims were injured this evening in a collision between a bus and a truck in Beni Municipality-9, Jaleshwor, Myagdi.

The accident occurred when a bus (registration Ga 2 Kha 1457) traveling from Mustang to Pokhara collided with a truck (registration Ga Pr. 01001 Kha 0012) coming from Bhairahawa to Rupse in Dana.

According to Police Inspector Sagar Timilsina of the District Police Office, Myagdi, the front portions of both vehicles were completely damaged. Of the 24 passengers on the bus, nine—including the driver and co-driver—escaped unhurt. The injured pilgrims were returning from the Muktinath pilgrimage in Mustang, Inspector Timilsina said.

The injured include Deepak Raj Mittal (62), Shankar Lal Keshwani (63), Kriti Sharma (42), Gaurav Seni (38), Raj Adoliya (72), Simran Sahay (20), Prema Sharma (67) from Haryana; Alka Gupta (53) from Uttar Pradesh; Arvind Bhatt (58) from Jaipur; Ram Gopal Sharma (69) and Bandana Sharma (48) from Delhi; Richa Kaushik (37) and Gaurav Kaushik (39) from Madhya Pradesh; Vinit Goyal (48) from Gujarat; and Niru Chaudhary (42), police reported.

Hospital sources said most of the injured sustained injuries to the face, hands, and legs. The bus driver, Bikash GC (31) of Lahachowk, Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality-4, Kaski, is being treated for minor injuries. The truck driver, Narayan Prasad Sharma (28) of Dhairing, Jaljala Rural Municipality-7, Parbat, is cooperating with the police investigation, Inspector Timilsina added.
