Former Speaker Ghimire loses Jhapa-2 seat to Indira Rana



JHAPA: Former Speaker Devraj Ghimire has been defeated in the House of Representatives election from Jhapa Constituency-2. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate and former Deputy Speaker Indira Rana Magar secured a decisive victory.

According to the final results released by the Office of the Returning Officer, Rana received 60,110 votes. Her closest rival, Ghimire of CPN-UML, secured only 11,368 votes, losing by a margin of nearly 49,000 votes.

Keshav Kumar Bhandari of the Shram Sanskriti Party came third with 7,291 votes, while Nepali Congress candidate Sarita Prasai received 5,616 votes.

Similarly, Bhadra Prasad Nepal of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party secured 3,966 votes, and Dharmashila Chapagain of the Nepali Communist Party received 1,115 votes.
