First Madhes Province Invitational Mayor Gold Cup to be held in Lalbandi



SARLAHI: The First Lalbandi Madhes Province Invitational Mayor Gold Cup 2082 is set to take place in Lalbandi, Sarlahi.

Organized by Lalbandi Municipality, the football tournament will be held from January 30 to February 10. A total of 12 teams, including four clubs from outside the province, will compete in the event, according to Dipendra Budhathoki, president of Jeeveshwor Youth Club.

The winning team will receive a cash prize of Rs 300,000, while the runner-up will be awarded Rs 150,000, along with a shield, medals, and certificates. Players will also be recognized in five additional categories, including Player of the Match for each game, Budhathoki said.

The tournament is expected to contribute to the promotion of sports tourism in the Lalbandi area, said Bishnu Adhikari, coordinator of the Municipal Sports Development Committee and ward chair of Lalbandi Municipality-17.

Participating teams include Jeeveshwor Youth Club of Sarlahi, Birgunj United of Parsa, Ratanpur United of Bara, Nepal Sports Club of Rautahat, Byagngkhadi Youth Club of Mahottari, Dhanusha-11 of Dhanusha, Golbazar Sports Club of Siraha, New Triyuga Sports Club of Saptari, Gaighat Youth Club of Udayapur, Inaruwa Football Club of Sunsari, Bharatpur Football Club of Chitwan, and Makawanpur District Football Association of Hetauda.
