KATHMANDU: The central committee meeting of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal is set to begin today (October 7).
The meeting will be the party’s first central committee session since the merger of the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party led by Mahantha Thakur and the Janata Samajbadi Party led by Upendra Yadav.
Following the merger, the party announced a 279-member Central Working Committee on August 15. The three-day central committee meeting will run from October 7 to 9.
In preparation for the meeting, the party’s Central Executive Committee held a meeting on Tuesday to finalize the agenda for discussion, according to General Secretary Dr. Surendra Jha.
The central committee is scheduled to discuss political and organizational reports, which will be presented for collective deliberation before being adopted.
The meeting will also discuss the integration of party structures at the provincial, district and local levels, as well as the status of sister organizations that have yet to be fully integrated following the merger.
Similarly, the party is expected to finalize the division of responsibilities among central committee members. Contemporary political developments, strategies for expanding the party and its future programmes will also be discussed.
