NC contributes Rs 10 million to PM Disaster Rescue Fund



KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has contributed Rs 10 million financial aid to Prime Minister Natural Disaster Rescue Fund for relief and rehabilitation to the people of Bhotekoshi flood affected areas.

 A delegation led by NC General-Secretary Pradip Paudel handed over a check equivalent to the amount to Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle on Monday.

Party Treasurer Umesh Shrestha, Spokesperson Devraj Chalise, a member of House of Representative from Rasuwa, Mohan Acharya, as well as other leaders were in the delegation.

The massive flood occurred on Bhotekoshi and Trishuli Rivers flowing through Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts on August 26 had caused huge loss of lives and properties there. The flood have displaced many households as well as damaged physical structures.

On the occasion, NC leader Paudel mentioned that the NC provided such financial aid to the government with an objective of helping victim families for management of relief, treatment and safe accommodation during this disaster hour.

He underlined that the NC is along with all flood-hit citizens during the hour of crisis. The NC leaders also drew government’s attention to accelerate rescue of the citizens stuck in different areas including tunnels due to flood.

The NC General-Secretary Paudel asked the government to forward rescue of affected people surrounding Trishuli and Bhotekoshi Rivers and reconstruction of damaged infrastructures in a rapid manner as well as to make relief distribution transparent as well as to make overall disaster management further smooth and effective.

He also expressed commitment that the NC is ready to provide all types of support the government needs in disaster management, search of missing people and sustainable rehabilitation of displaced people.
