KATHMANDU: Nepal will face Oman today in the first semi-final of the Asian Games Men’s Cricket Qualifiers. The match between Nepal, the winners of Group ‘A’, and Oman, the runners-up of Group ‘B’, will begin at 7:15 am Nepali time in Singapore.
The Nepali team, which is in high spirits after winning both matches in the qualifying stage, aims to move closer to the title by defeating Oman. Nepal defeated China by 221 runs in its first group-stage match and Malaysia by a huge margin of 167 runs in the second.
For Nepal, which has already secured its place in the Asian Games through its group-stage performance, this match is an opportunity to compete for the qualification title.
According to the rules of the competition, all four teams that reached the semi-finals have already qualified for the Asian Games. Nepal and Malaysia from Group ‘A’, and Oman and Hong Kong from Group ‘B’, have booked their places in the tournament.
The second semi-final today will see Hong Kong, the winners of Group ‘B’, face Malaysia, the runners-up of Group ‘A’. The match is scheduled to start at 12:15 pm.
