KATHMANDU: Weather across the country is expected to remain unstable, with chances of rain and thunderstorms in the hills and mountains, and a gradual increase in heat in the Terai region, officials said.
According to the Weather Forecasting Division, it is currently generally cloudy in most mountainous and hilly parts of the country, including Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces, while it is partly cloudy in the Terai. Thunderstorms and lightning have been observed in one or two places in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces.
The Division stated that it will remain generally cloudy in the mountainous parts of the country, including Koshi Province, and partly cloudy in the remaining hilly areas, including Madhes Province, this afternoon. The weather is expected to remain mainly clear in most parts of the Terai.
There is a possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning in some places in the mountainous and hilly parts of Koshi Province, as well as Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces. In addition, there may be rain and snowfall in one or two places in the remaining mountainous regions, including Madhes Province.
According to the Division, there is also a possibility of an unexpected increase in temperature in some parts of the Terai in Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim Provinces.
Similarly, tonight the mountainous parts of the country, including Koshi Province, will remain generally cloudy, while Madhes Province and the remaining hilly areas will remain partly cloudy. The weather is expected to remain mainly clear in most parts of the Terai.
The Division stated that there may be light rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning in some places in the mountainous and hilly parts of Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces.
In addition, as temperatures are likely to increase in some parts of the Terai in Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim Provinces, all concerned have been urged to take necessary precautions and stay updated with weather bulletins issued by the Division.
