Jagadish Kharel says he will seek legal action over ‘media trial’

KATHMANDU: Former Communications Minister Jagadish Kharel has said he will seek legal remedy, claiming that he has been subjected to a “media trial.”

Kharel, who is also a lawmaker from the ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), accused certain media outlets and social media users of deliberately spreading “fake news” by linking his name to various allegations.

In a social media post, Kharel urged the public not to be misled by what he described as planned and misleading narratives.

He said he is currently in Switzerland for official programs and maintained that he had committed no wrongdoing.

“Since I have done nothing wrong, I am not afraid at all,” Kharel stated.

He further wrote that such “misleading, planned and fabricated attacks” would not damage his character or political future, adding that he would pursue legal action against those involved.
