FNCCI hands certificates to newly elected leadership led by Anjan Shrestha

KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) on Thursday handed over certificates to newly elected President Anjan Shrestha and other members of the executive committee.

The certificates were distributed by the election committee of the federation’s 60th General Assembly during a program held at the FNCCI Secretariat in Kathmandu.

Following the certificate distribution, outgoing FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal administered the oath of office and secrecy to President Shrestha, who in turn administered the oath to other office-bearers and executive committee members.

Shrestha also officially assumed office on Thursday.

Speaking to journalists after taking charge, he said discussions with the new government had already begun to create a more business-friendly environment and boost the confidence of the private sector.

He stressed the need to mobilize capital to increase public purchasing power, saying weak consumer spending had affected economic activity.

Shrestha also pointed out that although banks currently have sufficient liquidity, small and medium-sized enterprises are still facing difficulties accessing investment capital. He urged the government to take initiatives to address the issue.
