Over 2,100 drivers penalized for traffic violations in Kathmandu Valley in 24 hours



KATHMANDU: A total of 2,105 drivers were penalized for violating traffic rules in the Kathmandu Valley over the past 24 hours, generating Rs 2.66 million in revenue for the state treasury.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, 99 drivers were booked for driving under the influence of alcohol, while 193 were penalized for operating ride-sharing services in violation of regulations.

Similarly, 133 drivers were punished for violating traffic signals and 139 for overspeeding.

Traffic police also took action against 132 drivers for failing to follow lane discipline, 79 for honking in restricted zones, 87 for parking vehicles on sidewalks, and 79 for driving on one-way roads.

In addition, 1,164 individuals faced action for various other traffic rule violations, the office said.
