PM Sushila Karki mourns untimely demise of actor Sunil Thapa



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said she is deeply saddened by the untimely demise of popular Nepali actor Sunil Thapa.

In a condolence message issued today, Prime Minister Karki stated that with Thapa’s passing, the Nepali and Indian film industries have lost not only a versatile actor but also a strong pillar of cinema.

Recalling his memorable performances, she noted that Thapa’s roles, from Rate Kaila in Chino to the coach in Mary Kom, as both villain and supporting actor succeeded in winning the hearts of millions.

“The characters portrayed by Sunil Thapa will forever remain alive in the memories of audiences,” the Prime Minister said, adding that his more than four decades of dedication, discipline and contribution to cinema will continue to inspire future generations of artists.

Prime Minister Karki paid heartfelt tribute to the late actor and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family members, relatives, well-wishers and the entire arts community.

Actor Sunil Thapa passed away due to a heart attack at the age of 68 this morning.
