CPN-UML finalizes six candidates for National Assembly election



KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has finalized the names of six candidates for the National Assembly election scheduled for January 25.

The party is contesting the election in alliance with other political forces and has secured seven seats under the broader electoral arrangement involving the Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Centre) and JSP-Nepal. However, UML has yet to finalize one candidate from Madhesh Province.

According to party sources, UML has nominated Roshani Meche from Koshi Province, Dr Prem Kumar Dangal from Bagmati, Samjhana Devkota from Gandaki, Ram Kumari Jhankri from Lumbini, Meena Rakhal from Karnali and Leela Kumari Bhandari from Sudurpaschim.

The candidates’ names were finalized by UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli following discussions at the party’s Secretariat meeting.

The Election Commission has scheduled today as the deadline for filing nominations for the National Assembly election.
