Nepal likely to receive rain despite monsoon retreat



KATHMANDU: With the monsoon apparently retreating, rainfall surprised residents in the capital on Monday, while meteorologists say some parts of the country could receive rain over the next three days.

Residents of the capital, who had assumed that the monsoon had ended, were surprised by Monday’s sudden rainfall. There is a possibility of rainfall in some parts of the country over the next three days, but it is unlikely to continue for a long period, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.

The Division said westerly winds are currently influencing all parts of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as the western parts of Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.

The Division said there is also a partial influence of monsoon winds, along with westerly winds, in Koshi, Madhes and Bagmati provinces and the remaining parts of Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
