KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Thapa and party leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala held a meeting on Sunday afternoon to discuss ways to resolve the party’s internal disputes.
According to Koirala’s secretariat, he told Thapa that there is no alternative to keeping the Nepali Congress united, as the country, democracy and national interests are currently facing difficult circumstances. Koirala said he was ready to make any sacrifice necessary for party unity.
In response, President Thapa said he was also in favour of party unity and was working to bring the party together. The two leaders also discussed the devastating floods that struck Rasuwa along the Nepal-China border on August 26.
Thapa had also met outgoing acting party President Purna Bahadur Khadka on Saturday. Party leaders said the discussions between Thapa and Khadka on resolving internal disputes had been positive.
