RASUWA: The recent flooding of the Bhotekoshi River, originating near the Nepal-China border, has caused significant loss of life and property in Rasuwa.
So far, 1,313 people have been rescued, while 3,071 others remain unaccounted for. According to Dhruv Prasad Adhikari, assistant chief district officer and information officer, security personnel and local residents have rescued 1,227 Nepali citizens and 86 foreign tourists affected by the floods and landslides.
In a major rescue operation, 145 pilgrims and local residents stranded in the Gosainkund area were airlifted to safety in Nuwakot and Kathmandu by helicopter. However, many people in the district remain out of contact.
Those still unaccounted for include 27 Nepali Army personnel, 28 Nepal Police personnel and 13 Armed Police Force personnel. The list also includes 79 government employees and 26 employees of banks and financial institutions.
Similarly, 1,370 residents of Rasuwa and 1,262 foreign tourists who had arrived from other districts remain unaccounted for, according to the district administration.
