No misuse of taxpayers’ money, says Communications Minister Timilsina

KATHMANDU: Minister for Information and Communications Dr. Bikram Timilsina has assured that not a single rupee collected from taxpayers will be misused.

Responding to lawmakers’ questions during discussions on his ministry’s budget allocation in the National Assembly on Monday, Timilsina said the allocated budget would be spent strictly in line with its intended purpose and approved standards.

He stressed that the government remains committed to ensuring fiscal discipline, transparency, accountability, and good governance in public spending.

The minister also said the government has adopted a policy to develop the Security Printing Centre into a self-reliant, commercially viable, and results-oriented institution.

According to Timilsina, the centre has produced and delivered 2.4 million smart driving licences and 3.5 million postage stamps to the concerned authorities during the current fiscal year.

He further stated that strengthening the country’s communications infrastructure remains one of the ministry’s top priorities.

Investment in communications infrastructure, he said, will contribute significantly to long-term revenue growth, enhance technological capacity, and strengthen national security.
