Six tigers found dead in Chitwan National Park this fiscal year



KATHMANDU: Six tigers have been found dead in the Chitwan National Park during the current fiscal year, authorities said.

The latest case was reported on Monday after a male tiger, estimated to be around two years old, was found dead near Sijighat area inside the park.

According to Information Officer Avinash Thapa Magar, the tiger is believed to have died following an attack by another tiger.

Of the six tigers found dead this year, two are male, three female, and one has not yet been identified. Authorities said two died after fighting between tigers, three died during rescue operations, and one died due to natural causes.

An earlier census had recorded 128 tigers in the park, although results of the latest population survey have not yet been made public.
