FNCCI elects new leadership, Anjan Shrestha to lead as president



KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry has elected a new leadership through its 60th Annual General Meeting and election held in Kamaladi on Monday and Tuesday.

The election has formed a 68-member executive committee, including four vice presidents. Competing panels led by Hemraj Dhakal and senior vice president Anjan Kumar Shrestha contested the polls, with results showing a mixed outcome from both sides.

As per FNCCI statute, senior vice president Shrestha will assume leadership of the federation. Having built a strong reputation in Nepal’s business sector over more than two decades, he will lead the organization for the next three years.

The new team will include vice presidents and executive members elected through the general convention under Shrestha’s leadership.

In the commodity sector, Naresh Lal Shrestha has been elected vice president, while Krishna Prasad Sharma and Dil Sundar Shrestha secured vice president positions under the district/municipal category. Results for the associate category are yet to be announced.

Among the 26 candidates in the commodity group, Araniko Rajbhandari, Nani Raj Ghimire, Pashupati Dev Pandey, Bidur Dhamala, Bhakta Bahadur Hamal, Rabin Puri, Rajkumar Karki, Lilendra Pradhan, Sangharsha Bista, Sagar Dhakal, and Hom Prasad Ghimire were elected.

With four candidates receiving equal votes, winners will be decided through a lottery system. In the women’s category under the commodity group, Sunita Nhemhaphuki has been elected.

In the district/municipal open category, Arjun Kumar Shrestha, Prayas Karki, Krishna Katuwal, Laxman Raj Paudel, Chhatradhar Atreya, Mohan Prasad Shrestha, Santosh Khadka, Dipak Nepal, Keshav Prasad Bhandari, Hari Prasad Aryal, Tara Bahadur Karki, Shankar Giri, Ujjwal Prasad Kasaju, and Sudarshan Karki were elected. Gita Amatya and Hira Bhattarai also secured positions.

The new executive committee will later select the senior vice president from among its members.
