Heavy snowfall blankets Mustang, disrupts Muktinath pilgrimage

MUSTANG: Heavy snowfall has been reported in lower Mustang, including the Muktinath area of Waragung Muktikshetra–1. Snow has been falling continuously since this afternoon in the Muktinath region.

According to Dinesh Bhusal, Manager of the Muktinath Development Committee, the ongoing snowfall is the heaviest of the season so far. “Although the area has experienced snowfall six times earlier, today’s snowfall is particularly heavy and has continued for the past three hours,” he said.

The snowfall has caused difficulties for devotees visiting Muktinath. Suraj Gurung, operator of Hotel Grand Sambala, said that the route from Ranipauwa Bus Park to the temple has been obstructed due to the snow.
