Structure on land leased by Home Minister Gurung near Phewa Lake found unused

KATHMANDU: A piece of land reportedly leased by Home Minister Sudan Gurung in Simle area of Pokhara Metropolitan City-22 has come into discussion as a campaign to protect Phewa Lake continues.

A structure built on the land has been found unused. The building appears locked and surrounded by bushes, indicating that it has remained inactive for some time.

According to local sources, the land appears to fall within the boundary standards set for the lake. A boundary pillar recently installed by Pokhara Metropolitan City has also been found near the site.

Meanwhile, the metropolitan city has launched a drive to remove temporary structures built around the lake area. Bulldozers were deployed from Saturday morning as part of the campaign to clear illegal sheds and structures near Phewa Lake.

Home Minister Gurung has issued a clarification regarding the land, claiming that he was misled in the lease agreement and stating that he plans to pursue legal action.
