Weather: Light rain likely in parts of Lumbini, Bagmati, and Koshi



KATHMANDU: Nepal is currently under the influence of a western low-pressure system combined with local winds.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the hilly and mountainous regions, including Sudurpaschim Province, are experiencing generally cloudy conditions, while the rest of the country remains mostly clear.

Light rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning are currently occurring in some hilly areas of Gandaki Province, as well as parts of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. Similar conditions are also being observed in one or two locations in the hilly regions of Lumbini, Bagmati, and Koshi provinces.

The Department has forecast generally cloudy conditions in the hilly and mountainous regions this afternoon, with partial cloud cover elsewhere. There is also a possibility of moderate rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning in some hilly and mountainous areas.

For tonight, mountainous regions are expected to remain generally cloudy, while hilly areas will see partial cloud cover and the Terai will remain mostly clear.

Light rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning are likely at a few places in the mountainous regions of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, and at isolated locations in the mountainous areas of Bagmati, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
