Time to fulfill people’s aspirations: Ranju Darshana

KATHMANDU: Newly elected Member of the House of Representatives from Kathmandu Constituency-1, Ranju Darshana Neupane, has said the time has come to fulfill the aspirations of the people.

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) leader said her victory brings both happiness and responsibility, stressing that people’s expectations must now be addressed.

Speaking briefly to the media after her election on Friday, Darshana said voters expressed their desire for change after feeling betrayed over the past three decades. “There is both happiness and challenge before us. We must now deliver,” she said.

She thanked the voters of Kathmandu-1 and described the result as a victory for alternative and conscious politics. According to her, the RSP takes this mandate very seriously.

Darshana secured 15,455 votes in the election and was handed the certificate of victory by the Chief Election Officer on Friday. Her nearest rival, Prabal Thapa Chhetri of the Nepali Congress, trailed by a margin of 9,091 votes.
