Kathmandu records 6.3°C minimum temperature this morning

KATHMANDU: The minimum temperature in Kathmandu was measured at 6.3 degrees Celsius at 5:45 am, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.

However, this is a preliminary reading. The official minimum temperature for the day will be recorded at 8:45 am, and it is likely to drop slightly from the initial measurement.

On Thursday, the initial minimum temperature was recorded at 5.4 degrees Celsius, while the official minimum temperature later fell to 5.1 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologists explain that temperatures fluctuate depending on cloud cover. When the sky remains cloudy at night, the minimum temperature tends to be higher in the morning. Conversely, clear skies at night allow temperatures to drop.

During the daytime, the pattern is reversed. Cloudy conditions limit sunlight and result in lower maximum temperatures, while clear skies allow temperatures to rise.
