Koshi Province cabinet sees complete overhaul as new ministers take charge



KATHMANDU: Koshi Province Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki has expanded and reshuffled his cabinet, replacing all ministers on Tuesday. The move follows an agreement between the ruling coalition partners, CPN-UML and Nepali Congress, on ministerial portfolios.

The swearing-in ceremony for the new ministers is currently underway at the Province Chief’s office. Under the new arrangement, Nepali Congress has appointed Pradeep Sunuwar from Okhaldhunga as Minister for Physical Infrastructure, Man Bahadur Limbu as Minister for Health, Israel Mansuri as Minister for Agriculture and Bhim Parajuli as Minister for Tourism and Forests. Shobha Chemjong has been appointed State Minister for Physical Infrastructure.

From CPN-UML, Bidur Lingthep has been appointed Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning, Chintan Pathak as Minister for Drinking Water, Irrigation, and Energy, Indramani Parajuli as Minister for Internal Affairs and Law, and Ram Prasad Mahto as Minister for Social Development. Umakant Gautam has been named State Minister under the Chief Minister’s Office.

According to the coalition agreement, each party was to nominate two state ministers. One by one, the appointed ministers are taking their oaths this afternoon.
