Wild elephant found dead in Jhapa



JHAPA: A wild elephant has been found dead in Dandagau, Ward 3 of Buddhashanti Rural Municipality, Jhapa.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Khagendra Bahadur Khadka of the District Police Office, the wild male elephant was discovered in the field of Lal Bahadur Rasaili on Tuesday morning.

After receiving the information, a police team from Budhabare Area Police Office secured the site, while officials from the Jhapa Division Forest Office arrived to prepare an official record of the incident.

The District Police Office confirmed that further investigation into the case is ongoing.

Himal Pathak, Forest Officer at the Division Forest Office, said this is the second elephant death recorded in Jhapa during the current fiscal year.

He also noted that elephant attacks have resulted in four human deaths in the district so far this year, highlighting ongoing human-wildlife conflict concerns in the area.
