KATHMANDU: US Chargé d’Affaires ad interim Megan Bouldin met with Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal on Thursday to discuss a range of bilateral issues following his recent visit to the United States.
During the meeting, Bouldin highlighted the ongoing delivery of more than USD 36 million in US assistance for Nepal’s flood response, noting that the United States is the country’s leading donor for disaster relief efforts.
She also highlighted the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact’s USD 550 million programme, which supports the development of Nepal’s electricity transmission network and road infrastructure, contributing to the country’s recovery.
As part of the strong US-Nepal partnership, Bouldin also called for the swift passage of human trafficking legislation drafted with US assistance to meet international standards.
She further urged progress on key recommendations aimed at reducing the risk of human trafficking in the aftermath of the disaster.
