Bhotekoshi flood: 45 students from Rasuwa still out of contact



RASUWA: Forty-five students from three government schools and one private school in Rasuwa remain out of contact following the devastating floods of August 26.

According to Durga Prasad Silwal, head of the Education Development and Coordination Unit in Dhunche, four school buildings in the district were completely destroyed by the floods. The affected schools are Nepal National Basic School in Timure, Malika Devi Basic School in Parebesi, Chipleti Basic School and Modern Trinity English Boarding School.

Of the students still out of contact, 25 are from Nepal National Basic School, Timure; 11 from Malika Devi Basic School; eight from Modern Trinity English Boarding School; and one from Chipleti Basic School, Silwal said.

Alternative arrangements have been made to ensure continuity of education for other students affected by the disaster. Students from Chipleti Basic School have been transferred to schools in Dandagaun and Thulogaun. Students of Malika Devi Basic School have been accommodated at Navvijayi Secondary School in Bhalaydanda, while students of Modern Trinity English Boarding School have been accommodated at Neelkantha Secondary School.

Schools in Gosaikunda, Amachhodingmo, Uttargaya and Kalika rural municipalities were completely closed following the floods. However, classes in Naukunda Rural Municipality have resumed.
