Woman dies, four injured as flash flood and landslide hit Dolpa



DOLPA: A woman died and four others were injured after a mud-filled flash flood, triggered by continuous heavy rainfall, swept through the Dhula River in Gairi village of Jagadulla Rural Municipality-5 in Dolpa district.

The incident occurred around 3:00 am on Sunday when the sudden flood entered residential areas and inundated houses.

Ananda BK, approximately 56 years old, was buried under debris while asleep inside her home. She was rescued with the help of police and locals but died on the way to Jhyakot Health Post for treatment.

Four others—Jas BK (60), Reuli BK (44), Niruta BK (15), and Sita BK (13)—were injured in the disaster. Among them, Reuli BK is in critical condition and has been referred to a better-equipped hospital, while the remaining three have been discharged after treatment.

In addition, two relatives of the deceased, Junmaya BK (32) and Durge BK (29), fainted due to shock and are currently receiving care at the health post.

Preliminary reports indicate that one house has been completely destroyed, while eight others have suffered partial damage due to the flood.

Following the incident, security personnel from Majhgaon Police Post, Dolpa District Police Office, Kaigaon Area Police Office, Hurikot Temporary Police Post, along with a disaster response team from the Armed Police Force (APF), were deployed to the site.

Authorities are continuing to assess the extent of damage and investigate the incident further.
