Vote counting to begin tonight in Jhapa



JHAPA: Ballot boxes from the recently concluded House of Representatives election are being transported from polling stations to the offices of the respective election officers across the district.

Election Officer Tulsi Nepal said counting will begin following an all-party meeting, with the process scheduled to start from midnight. The office estimates that around 65 percent of registered voters cast their ballots.

Voting took place peacefully across 285 polling sites and 815 polling stations in all five constituencies of the district. A total of 90 candidates contested for the five constituencies, with 713,537 registered voters, including 358,346 men, 355,183 women, and 8 others.
