NC special convention supporters urge party to follow statute

KATHMANDU: Supporters of a special convention in the Nepali Congress have urged the party to hold the meeting as per its statute.

On Monday, they submitted a memorandum at the party office in Sanepha, requesting that the decision to hold the regular general convention in May be revised and a special convention be called in January.

Leader Devaraj Chalise said the move aims to rebuild the party with new policies and leadership in line with party regulations. He emphasized that the special convention is mandatory under the statute, not a matter of individual preference, and noted that majority members have already signed in support.

Chalise also questioned the rationale for delaying the special convention and alleged that recent decisions of the central and executive committees are not fully compliant with party bylaws.
