One person rescued alive from Trishuli 3A tunnel

KATHMANDU: One person trapped inside the tunnel of the Trishuli 3A Hydropower Project has been rescued alive, nine days after the tunnel was sealed by the devastating Bhotekoshi flood in Rasuwa.

An engineer involved in the search and rescue operation confirmed that one person had been rescued from inside the tunnel.

Earlier on Friday, engineer and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) leader Shreeram Neupane said rescuers had received a signal indicating that human voices were coming from inside the tunnel, raising hopes that people trapped inside could still be alive.

Search and rescue teams have been working continuously to locate and rescue those believed to be trapped inside the tunnel since the flood struck the area on August 26.
