KATHMANDU: Home Minister Sudan Gurung has said strengthening border security and upgrading police infrastructure are among the government’s top priorities.
Speaking to journalists at Biratnagar Airport during his visit to Morang to assess the security situation along the Nepal-India border, Gurung said the government is preparing to rebuild and upgrade dilapidated police office buildings across the country.
He said he was aware of the poor condition of police infrastructure in several districts, adding that improving physical facilities is essential to making the police organization more effective.
The home minister also said security agencies are actively working to further strengthen border security.
According to him, the Home Ministry is focusing on curbing smuggling, expanding security surveillance along border areas, and enhancing coordination among security agencies.
He added that the government is taking the necessary steps to control illegal cross-border activities and reinforce peace and security in border regions.
