21 individuals apply for CAAN Director-General post

KATHMANDU: A total of 21 candidates have applied for the post of Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN).

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation had opened applications last Saturday, giving a seven-day deadline for interested candidates. As per existing legal provisions, employees from CAAN or other government services are eligible to apply for the position.

The post has remained vacant following the arrest of former Director General Pradeep Adhikari on corruption charges.

According to a source at the ministry, 21 applications had been received by Monday.

Similarly, 27 candidates have applied for five vacant posts on the Board of Directors of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC). The ministry had initially called for four board members, but later increased the number to five after another vacancy emerged following the government ordinance that led to additional departures.

Officials said the revised appointment process aims to ensure full representation on the NAC board.
