UML proposes Chair Oli as future prime minister

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML party has put forward party chair KP Sharma Oli as its candidate for the next prime minister.

Speaking at a press conference held at the party’s central office in Chyasal on Wednesday, UML Vice Chair Ram Bahadur Thapa said the party has entered the election with the proposal of Oli as future prime minister, citing the need to safeguard the nation and re-establish patriotic and democratic forces.

Thapa said it is necessary to ensure the victory of those committed to nation-building, adding that Nepal’s economy is showing growth and that work is underway with an integrated vision for prosperity.

He expressed confidence that the public would reflect on the situation, noting that various forces had dominated and displaced the previous government despite these efforts.

He also stressed that the Supreme Court should deliver its verdict soon on the case related to the restoration of the parliament.
