RSP forms two subcommittees to advance candidate selection and party unity

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has decided to form two subcommittees focused on party integration and election preparations.

The decision was taken during a Central Committee meeting held on Sunday at the party’s central office in Ghantighar, Banasthali. According to party spokesperson Manish Jha, a Candidate Recommendation Subcommittee has been formed under the coordination of Vice-Chair Dr Swarnim Wagle to ensure the selection of qualified candidates for the House of Representatives election in 2026.

The subcommittee has been tasked with recommending eligible candidates as well as proposing the candidate selection process. Its members will be nominated by the party secretariat, Jha said.

In a separate decision, the Central Committee also formed a Party Unity and Integration Subcommittee under the coordination of General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti to facilitate and conclude party unification and adjustment processes. Members of this subcommittee will also be nominated by the party secretariat.

The meeting marked the first Central Committee session of the RSP since party chair Rabi Lamichhane was released from jail.
