Oli and Prachanda meet amid concerns over election environment

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli and Nepali Communist Party Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ held talks today, marking what is likely their first bilateral meeting since the Gen-Z movement.

The two leaders held a cordial discussion at a residence near the CPN-UML office in Chyasal, Lalitpur. During the meeting, both leaders reviewed the current political situation and expressed concern that the government has humiliated political parties and their top leaders instead of creating a conducive environment for the upcoming elections.

According to Govinda Acharya, chief of Prachanda’s Secretariat, the two leaders held in-depth discussions on contemporary political issues. He said the talks covered the election environment, the possibility of cooperation in the National Assembly elections, and the government’s failure to create a favourable atmosphere for polls, but no concrete conclusion was reached. The meeting took place before Prachanda’s departure for Delhi later today.
