KATHMANDU: Transport services have been disrupted along several major highways and road sections in Bagmati Province due to floods and landslides triggered by continuous rainfall.
According to the latest details released by Nepal Police, several road sections have been completely blocked, while one-way traffic is operating on others.
The Trishuli-Mailung-Syafrubesi road section is completely blocked at Khalte in Uttargaya Rural Municipality-5, Rasuwa, due to flooding and landslides.
Similarly, vehicle movement has been prohibited from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. along the Tokha-Chhahare and Pasang Lhamu Highway sections at Ghattekhola in Shivapuri Rural Municipality, Nuwakot. The road is also completely blocked at Simtar in Belkotgadhi Municipality-10.
Along the Prithvi Highway, the road has been blocked by a landslide at Krishnabhir in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-7, Dhading. Small vehicles are operating through a single lane at Parewa Bhir in Gajuri Rural Municipality-2.
Police said one-way traffic has resumed at Jwadkhola and Kamere Bhir after landslide debris was cleared.
On the Kathmandu-Dhading road section, one-way traffic has also resumed at Chisapani in Chandragiri Municipality-2 after landslide debris was removed last night.
Meanwhile, vehicle operating hours have been restricted along the Khurkot-Nepalthok-Katunjebesi section of the BP Highway in Kavrepalanchok due to the risk of flooding.
Goods vehicles weighing up to 10 tonnes are permitted to operate from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., while other vehicles can operate from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m., subject to an assessment of road conditions.
Nepal Police has urged travelers to check road conditions before starting their journeys and avoid traveling through high-risk areas, particularly at night.
