Bus plunges 200 metres off road in Baitadi, 16 injured



KATHMANDU: At least 16 people were injured after a passenger bus travelling from Dhangadhi in Kailali to Baitadi met with an accident on Friday afternoon.

The bus, bearing registration number Sudurpashchim Province 01-001 Kha 3963, veered off the road and plunged about 200 metres down a slope at Gairakhan in Patan Municipality-8, according to the District Police Office, Baitadi.

Ward Chairperson Harish Bista, who was at the scene, said all 16 injured passengers had been rescued. Rescue operations were still underway at the time of reporting.

Personnel from Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force and local residents have been mobilised for the rescue. Police said further details of the accident are yet to be released.
