Traffic enforcement nets Rs 2.37 million in a single day



KATHMANDU: A total of 2,299 drivers were booked for traffic rule violations across the Kathmandu Valley in the past 24 hours, generating Rs 2.37 million in state revenue.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, among those penalized were 119 motorists found driving under the influence of alcohol, 160 involved in illegal ride-sharing services, 134 who violated traffic signal lights, and 118 caught speeding.

Similarly, 114 drivers were booked for not maintaining lane discipline, 94 for unnecessary horn usage in restricted areas, 120 for parking on sidewalks, and 144 for driving on one-way roads.

In addition, 1,296 individuals were penalized for various other traffic violations not categorized separately by authorities.

Traffic police said regular monitoring and enforcement drives have been intensified across major routes to improve road discipline and reduce accidents in the Valley.
