KATHMANDU: President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Chandra Prasad Dhakal, has said that the perception toward the private sector in Nepal is gradually changing.
Speaking at a felicitation program organized by the federation in Lalitpur on Sunday, Dhakal said the private sector was previously viewed negatively, but is now increasingly being recognized as a key contributor to the country’s development.
He said even the current government, which is close to a two-thirds majority, has expressed commitment to moving forward in partnership with the private sector. Dhakal also noted that discussions had been held with leaders of the Rastriya Swatantra Party regarding the challenges faced by private businesses.
Referring to the upcoming general assembly of the federation, he said the new executive committee will be elected through a democratic process and urged stakeholders to ensure that the elections remain fair and transparent.
Dhakal also called for unity within the organization following the election of the new leadership.
The 60th general assembly of the federation is scheduled to begin on Monday.
