10 injured in microbus and bus collision



SINDHULI: Ten people were injured in a collision between a microbus and a bus on the BP Highway at Sitar, Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-5, Sindhuli on Friday.

The accident occurred when a microbus (Ba 4 Kha 5052) traveling from Kathmandu toward Kakadbhitta collided with a bus (Bagmati Province 01-006 Kha 2297) coming from Khurkot to Kathmandu.

Among the seriously injured were the microbus driver, Gaj Bahadur Magar, 38, of Lalitpur Metropolitan City-15, Anita Neupane, 30, and Prabin Tiwari, 32, of Mandandeupur Municipality-9, Kavrepalanchok, along with Prashant KC, whose address is unknown, according to Superintendent of Police Laldhwaj Subedi of the District Police Office. Driver Magar is receiving treatment at Dhulikhel Hospital.

Other passengers injured include 9-year-old Sanskruti Yadav and 32-year-old Kalpana Rai of Jhiljhile, Shivasatakshi Municipality-8, Jhapa; 38-year-old Amesh Khadka of Mechi Municipality-13; 22-year-old Amrit Rana Magar of Bhadrapur Municipality-1; and 42-year-old Din Prasad Sigdel of Kachankawal Rural Municipality-7. They are receiving treatment at the Atmiya Community Hospital in Khalte.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident. The bus driver, Suman Subedi of Baiteshwor Rural Municipality-6, Dolakha, has been taken into custody.
