Rabi Lamichhane’s official Facebook page disappears as election silence period begins

KATHMANDU: The official Facebook page of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane has gone missing as the silence period for the House of Representatives election began on Wednesday.

Lamichhane’s verified Facebook account, which had been actively used for election campaigning, is no longer visible in search results. However, his other Facebook accounts are still accessible.

The silence period came into effect ahead of the by-election scheduled for March 5. During this period, political parties and candidates are prohibited from carrying out election campaigning.

On Monday night, Lamichhane had posted a video on his verified Facebook page appealing to voters for their support. Since then, the verified account has reportedly disappeared from search.

It remains unclear whether the page was deactivated, removed, or restricted.
