RSP Chair Lamichhane says two-thirds government ‘poisoned’ him, vows to change Singha Durbar

KATHMANDU: Chair of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rabi Lamichhane, has accused the two-thirds government led by KP Sharma Oli of “poisoning” him.

In a lengthy post on social media on Tuesday, Lamichhane said the alleged actions of the government forced him to move across the country and engage directly with the people while also running to courts nationwide. “I am not seeking to reach Singha Durbar; I am demanding to change Singha Durbar,” he wrote.

Dismissing the promotion of a few bridges, buildings and roads as “cosmetic reforms,” Lamichhane said such measures do not interest him. He stressed that a clear public mandate is required to launch what he termed a “blue revolution” from Singha Durbar, which he described as the centre of misgovernance.

In his Facebook message, Lamichhane claimed that events unfolding in the country would be recorded as history and asserted that the Nepali people would write the history of change through their ballots. He said meaningful change is impossible unless the roots of instability are removed.

He further stated that his primary goal is not where his name appears in history, but securing the future of coming generations. Responding to allegations against the RSP, Lamichhane maintained that the party has clear ideas, policies and principles, adding that there is no need to complicate politics with “heavy words.”
